All you want to know about Loose pearls

Pearls come in all shapes, colors and settings and are grown in salt and fresh waters. Freshwater pearls have a wider range of colors and shapes than the saltwater variety, but are grown in fewer places. If you want to create a setting yourself, loose pearls are your best bet. These pearls, like other loose gemstones, are not set on a string or in a piece of metal. They are sold simply as the pearl itself, allowing the buyer to choose what to do with them.
Freshwater pearls come in a variety of colors. You can find freshwater pearls in shades of white, pink, yellow, lavender, bronze, orange and gray. At times, freshwater pearls may have more than one color. Loose pearls come in both natural and processed colors. Natural colors are white, pink, mauve or black. Processed colors can be red, green, gold or brown, among others.
Pearls can range anywhere from under 1mm to giants of 20mm or more. As you can see, pearls are usually measured in millimeters, and are measured through the diameter. The most popular size for loose pearls is around seven to 7.5 millimeters; anything over eight millimeters is considered to be high-end. Strands in this size look very beautiful, and are considered to be a terrific value. These are the perfect pearls for the young professional, or for casual wear. However, since there are so many important factors to consider when you want to buy pearls, size is normally a good jumping off point for your decision making.
